Welcoming Lana Sausa to the FINCI Board
The Board sets direction and keeps standards. It asks hard questions. It balances ambition with control. Today, following regulatory approval, we add a new voice to that table as we welcome Lana Sausa to the FINCI Board. This is a seamless transition from her predecessor Aleksey Pondin, with immediate impact in the boardroom.
Strengthening FINCI’s governance
On our mission to make payments better for our customers, we have always looked to do things differently. That has meant building new partnerships, adding new payment networks, expanding into new territories, and adopting new technologies. But innovation and ambition requires rock solid systems, guardrails and oversight.
Lana’s appointment supports that way of working. She strengthens Board oversight of our control environment and risk management, keeps us audit ready, and deepens confidence with regulators, correspondent banks and partners. And because she already knows our systems, decisions can move faster without cutting corners, which helps us scale services while keeping standards high.

Distinguished auditing career
Lana brings nearly eighteen years in financial auditing to the table. She began her career at KPMG Latvia, moved into banking at Norvik Banka as a senior internal auditor, then led internal audit at PNB Banka for seven years. She also served as an internal auditor at IPAS PNB Asset Management. And since 2021, she has been Chief Audit Executive at FINCI. Her breadth of experience gives the Board a stronger independent challenge and sharper oversight of control frameworks.
“The balance between risk and reward isn’t just about our policies, it’s about our people. Making sure we have the right culture in place, with a team empowered to innovate, and do their best work, will be a big part of my role. It’s a real honour to join the FINCI board.”

Positivity that lights up every room
Lana is someone that turns a rainy day into a bright one (metaphorically speaking, she can’t yet command the clouds). If she senses you’re low in energy, she’ll help to lift you back up again. She also champions women’s empowerment in finance and is an influential voice on the topic inside FINCI and beyond.
We are very lucky to have her on our team. And the FINCI Board is stronger with her on it. Congratulations Lana, you deserve it.
